🎉 Ten years of Mind of Steel

Published on June 23, 2024.

Mind of Steel is officially ten years old. A full decade.

When I started writing about mental strength, I never expected that my ideas will reach hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world. And it all started on June 23, 2014 when I published my first article—You Can Do Anything You Set Your Mind To.

At the time, I was 22 and writing in my college’s library in between classes. My mindset, values, and goals were very different and, as such, the things I wrote about were different.

For the first year, I focused on topics that troubled me in the past: changing your perception, taking risks to improve your future, ending relationships with toxic friends, and growing your social circles.

Over the years, my writing evolved: I started covering more topics, posting less frequently, and chasing the wrong goals. This culminated in 2020, when I decided to officially pull back from Mind of Steel and focus on other priorities: finding balance in my life, building close relationships, and generally becoming a well-rounded person.

That same year, during COVID lockdowns, I started this newsletter to keep sharing valuable lessons and keep Mind of Steel alive. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Yet, by the end of 2022, I was burned out. Due to personal issues and lack of motivation, I put Mind of Steel on pause for an entire year to see whether it still makes sense for me to continue writing—or if it’s time to officially kill it.

As you can see, I wasn’t ready to let it go.

Instead, my motivation re-ignited and I became committed to producing the best work I can. The way I see this newsletter today is sort of like a public journal: I share my thoughts, musings, and lessons learned in order to let you know you’re not alone (and to, hopefully, help you overcome your struggles more easily).

I’m not going to make any promises right now: I do have plans I hope to achieve, but I’ve learned it’s best to just shut up and do the work instead of explaining what you’re going to do.

With that said, here are the most visited articles since 2014 :

  1. 6 Painful Truths That Help You Find Your Life Purpose: This is one of rare articles I’ve written for the specific purpose of attracting new readers. Looks like it worked!
  2. Best Motivational Article Ever: I find it hilarious that, while this is obviously written as satire, people often share it believing I’m actually writing serious advice (kind of proving my point in the process).
  3. Motivational Letter to You: Written on my phone when I was broke, alone, and about to be homeless. Originally a letter to myself, to motivate myself to do something, later shared with others.
  4. How to Permanently Overcome Fear: This topic was requested a lot since the first day, eventually I decided to oblige and compile a researched, but a realistic article on the topic.
  5. Develop Discipline and Build a Daily Routine: While not a bad article, it comes from a time when my mindset wasn’t as mature as it is today, and I think it shows. I will probably rewrite it in the future.

Lastly, I would like to thank each and every one of you reading this for your immense support. Whether you’ve been here since day one, or you just found out about Mind of Steel, I am glad you’re interested in hearing what I have to say. I will do my best to keep delivering value to you every single week.

If you would like to support me and keep Mind of Steel growing, consider purchasing one of my books:

Hope to see you in 2034. So far, it looks like I will.
